Chemical Properties and Reactions

There are many elements, each separated into their appropriate group and period. Groups, also known as families, are elements that have the same properties. Periods symbolize the element’s valence electrons. Going from right to left, the Alkali Metals are the most reactive, Noble gases being the least.
Each element has chemical properties when combined with another element or substance. A few are odor change, color change, temperature, and precipitate. An example of odor change is when iron and vinegar are mixed; it gives off a sulfur type scent.

Many different chemicals react differently to each other such as sodium and Chlorine. One is unstable will the other is toxic, yet when put together, they form NaCl which is table salt. Whenever cornstarch and water is combined it forms a substance called a Non-Newtonian fluid. A Non-Newtonian fluid is when the substance is in a liquid state as well as a solid state at the same time. ~ Dr. Professor Patrick

Dr. Billy

In 9th period science we where mixing comical together. Then we wrote down what they have done like if they change colors and stuff like that. It didn't change color but it fizzed up when we mix the to comical together. By the 9th period historian.

Snow blizzards by 8thperiod meteorologist dr.who

Snow blizzards are often marked by modest snowfall. When a snow blizzard everyone gets a sore back from shoveling snow all day or just from snowboarding. There are more than 10 types of sow storms or snow blizzards.
   There are snow flurries,snow showers,snow squalls,blowing snow,nor'easter.Types of blizzards:ice storms,sleet,freezing rain.
Frostbite and hypothermia are increased for every second that u are exposed to the blizzards. If u are lost in a blizzard stay hydrated but don't eat snow melt the snow before u drink it.Try to seek shelter as soon as possible and stay out of the cold

Hi my name is Dr.SniperJones and these pictures are about when we did a experiment over gas and fire and some other kind of substance that was powder and you put it in the gas and it fizzes and when you put it over the flame the fire went out

Effects when you smoke - Dr.Kiwi

We worked with Bob the smoker. For my class he had only smoked 1 cigaret and his lungs were already turning brown. By the end of the day he smoked 2 cigarets and his lungs were a little more brown than the first cigaret.
Cigarets can cause cancer and is bad for your health. We watched a video and this lady smoked all through her teen years up until her olden days and she had a whole in her throat for her to be able to breath better.
Smoking is bad for you. Don't ever try it because even though people say you look cool what you really are is ruining your body and shortening your life to live. Instead of smoking go play outside to look cool or go dance to your favorite kind of music because the only one you should impress or try to look cool for is yourself.

Hello, I'm Dr. Skittles, googleologist and, now, historian for our 4th period science class. I know that I am going to love posting new pictures and updates about our new lab projects through-out the year.
#NEOW stands for Not Even Once Wednesday, which is a day every six-weeks where our science teachers teach us the affects of drugs and alcohol, and what they do to the human body. We only do this once every six weeks, brought to us by our counselor Dr. Neutral.
This six-weeks for #NEOW, we learned about cigarettes: what they're made with, and what they do to the your body. We also learned a bit about the affects of alcohol, but not much. Meanwhile, I will be back later with the latest #NEOW update and photos :)

Historian dr.kiwi

Hi my name is Dr.Kiwi I'm the historian. I will be taking pictures of what activities we do in class.

Monday, October 21, 2013

This is our second activity. We are still checking for evidence of a chemical reaction. This activity was to check if there was a gas production. Posted by Dr.FatMan and Dr. Frankenstein!

Friday, October 18, 2013

This is from our first project.  We were testing reactivity of two substances to see what would happen. Posted by Dr.fatman

Hi my name is dr.fatman. I'm  your historian from 8th period.i hope to keep the history for the class

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Hello, my name is Dr. Professor Patrick and I am the 9th period Historian. My job is to record the many activities that will occur in the classroom. I hope to learn more about science in general.

hello my name is dr.billy im the historian. I hope to take a picture of rhino out of his house.
Hi my name is Dr.chingchangchong I am the historian for 8th period I want to take interesting pictures this year
I am doctor fat man 56. I am the historian for mrs. Grahams 2 period class. I am looking forward to taking pictures of all the awesome things we will do this year

I am Dr. Frankenstein.  I am the mad scientist behind this website!  I am posting a few pictures of my little scientists hard at work.  In this lab, we were learning about chemical reactivity.  Have you ever seen bubbling or fizzing when two chemicals combine?  What about noticing a temperature change or seeing a flash of light?  These are just a few examples of what chemical reactivity is all about.  Enjoy the pictures!
